If you've worked with Luminate recently, it's likely you've already had a good natter with Tom - our new Business Development and Account Manager. He works with our clients to find tailored solutions that support employee wellbeing and help shape happier, healthier cultures. 🙌

Tom is passionate about naps, punk rock, and workplaces that prioritise employee wellbeing. We sat down with Tom earlier this week, to get to know him a little better:

 

What attracted you to a career in wellbeing? 

After a long 18-year career in the media industry, I wanted to work in an industry that I had a more personal connection with. After having some experience with anxiety and mental health illnesses myself, it's wonderful to work in a sector that means so much to me.

 

What are the three non-negotiables for you to look after your own mental health?

Getting a good night's sleep, exercise (this could be anything from spinning to footy with mates, to a long walk), and being kind to yourself.Tom Parrish

 

What's your favourite part of the job? 

Knowing that what I'm selling and working with our clients on is having a positive impact on their teams' lives.

 

What's your favourite biscuit?

A ginger nut with a cup of tea - perfection.

 

What book or podcast on wellbeing would you recommend? 

Fearne Cotton's Happy Place has always been a favourite, especially the episode with Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro - learned a lot about mediation

 

Which is your favourite Luminate workshop?

Tricky as there are so many good ones. I'd say Work Life Balance, as I learned lots of things I can go on to apply in my own life. Similarly, much of the content in the Building Healthy Habits session hit home for me too.

 

What would the perfect day look like for you? 

An amazing coffee to start my day followed by a lovely cooked breakfast and a walk around a lovely park (with another super delicious coffee in hand). Later, I'd share some food and drinks with friends before heading to a gig in the evening.

 

Where is your favourite place to find zen in the city? 

Brockwell Park near Brixton. 🌿

 

What’s coming up in 2023 for you?

A dream trip around America which is very exciting and hopefully a few more trips to Margate - my favourite seaside town.
