For a company built around workplace wellbeing, becoming a B Corp was a natural next step for us. Today, we're proud to say it's official: Luminate Consultancy is now a certified B Corporation, with an overall score of 87.3.
Why this mattered to usWe have always wanted to be a business that does good in the world, not just in the work we deliver, but in how we treat our colleagues, the impact we have on the environment and how we give back to the communities we operate in. This, to me, has always been the core purpose of running a business.
Many of us have worked in organisations where it felt like profit came before people, where it was clear that your wellbeing mattered less than the numbers. When I set up Luminate, I wanted something different: a place people actually enjoy working in. Somewhere people can grow, but also somewhere that understands that colleagues have a life outside of work and respects that. We try to treat people as whole human beings, because that's so often what's missing from workplaces. In our line of work especially, we see a lot of businesses saying the right things and making the right noises, but unfortunately this doesn't always translate into meaningful action.
I won't pretend we've got every decision right along the way; running a small business means constant trade-offs and we are still learning on the best way to do things, but the intention to do things well by our staff, our customers and the wider world we live in is always there.
We have held ourselves to a high standard from day one, and every person at Luminate buys into this way of working. It's important to us that the work that we deliver is genuinely meaningful and has a positive impact on people's wellbeing; we don't want to be just a tick box, which is why we work relentlessly on the quality of our training and the services we deliver. We've never compromised on that, and it continues to be a priority for us.
B Corp certification was never really about becoming something new. It was about formalising what we already believed, and putting a recognised badge behind it so others could see we take it seriously.

Our marketing manager, Poppy, led the application, but it was a team effort - everyone had an input. We started the process at the beginning of 2025 and were certified in August 2026, about a year and a half later. Our first submitted score was around 90; the final verified figure came in at 87.3 (it’s normal to see a slight points drop as assessors dig into the detail, but it didn’t change much, which is something we’re very proud of).
The assessment process doesn't reward good intentions, it wants evidence. Because we're a fairly low-impact business environmentally, that section didn't require a huge overhaul, but we still tightened things up: our facilitators now report on how they travel to client sites, the team reports on the sustainability of their home working setups, and we keep proper records of our suppliers against our sustainability priorities. We're based in a WeWork, so we leaned on their own sustainability data for our office footprint, and they're doing great work there, which worked in our favour.
Our strongest areas were Workers and Customers, and we didn't have to change much there either. Our leave policies, workers' rights, and development processes were already solid.
On the customer side, we've always taken feedback seriously, not just from attendees in the room, but from the client and our facilitators too, closing the feedback loop. We turn that into annual impact reports so clients can see the difference we're making and we use the feedback to improve and develop our services further.
Alongside this, we have always tried to invest in our community by giving back to local charities through donations, and pro-bono and discounted work for charities and non-profits. The certification mostly asked us to prove what we were already doing.
A score of 87.3 is something to be proud of, but we know we can do better. B Corps recertify every three years, and we don't want any of this to slip in the meantime. We'll keep asking ourselves how Luminate can be a genuinely great place to work, and how the business can keep having a positive impact on the people and world around it.
To our clients, partners, and everyone who's worked with us along the way, thank you for being part of this. We hope it's one more reason to trust that, when we talk to you about building healthier workplaces, we mean ours too.
